Attendees inspired by expanding opportunities

Fairfax, Virginia — The 2010 SGIA Printed Electronics and Membrane Switch Symposium (Phoenix, May 18–20) drew an elite group of printed electronics professionals from around the world to learn about the latest industry advancements and to improve their competitive position in this expanding marketplace.

According to SGIA’s Product Specialties Survey report, membrane switches, flexible circuits and photovoltaic products — which were hot topics at the Symposium — are expected to grow throughout the next three years, making printed electronics a profitable market to enter.

“The 2010 Symposium was such an eye-opener,” said attendee Jimmy Cheung, Engineering Designer, GradTech. “Being in the membrane switch business for three years and as a first-time attendee, I found this Symposium to be very informative. I definitely look forward to next year’s Symposium.”

Robert Tarzwell tested the boundaries with his ground-breaking Keynote address, “Integrating Advanced PCB Technologies into the New Printed Electronics.” Tarzwell, a 45-year veteran and consultant, spoke about the adaptation of existing PCB techniques into printed single-sided circuit manufacturing to gain market share in the booming printed electronics industry.

This year’s focused educational program was jam-packed with valuable information and was an ideal event for attendees to gain technical knowledge from industry experts. Attendees also had the chance to connect with numerous exhibitors across all segments of this high-tech industry.

“We were pleased with the number of new attendees participating, and pleasantly surprised by the number of international attendees. Presentations were relevant and extremely informative,” said exhibitor Don Banfield, Conductive Compounds, Inc.

There also was a lot of excitement about the all-new Industrial Application Zone at the 2010 SGIA Expo (Las Vegas, October 13–15). This Expert Advice Zone will feature state-of-the-art and near-future industrial and electronics printing processes and products, making it the ideal place for Symposium attendees to reunite.
